Sean is patent attorney with a diverse intellectual property practice, concentrating on intellectual property disputes, the procurement of intellectual property rights and compliance with the U.S Export Administration Regulations.
Sean has experience in medical practice management in Boston, MA and brings additional experience gained working as a computer consultant on a range of computer and network-related issues.
Sean’s litigation experience covers a variety of intellectual property issues, with a focus on patent and copyright disputes. He has been involved in patent cases covering an array of technologies, including high throughput drug screening techniques, golf swing analysis and simulation devices, HVAC devices, sterile connection devices for the medical field, and nutraceutical products. In addition, his copyright litigation experience has focused on disputes involving abstract art works.
In addition to his litigation experience, Sean is also experienced at assisting clients obtain intellectual property rights and navigate the complex regulatory scheme associated with the U.S Export Administration regulations. As a patent attorney, registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Sean has experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications related to software and mechanical inventions. In addition, Sean has expertise regarding the application of the EAR to the export of encryption items, which include any hardware or software product that incorporates encryption capabilities.
Sean received his B.A. in Classical Civilization from Colby College in 1998, a Master of Public Health and a Master of Arts in Medical Science from Boston University in 2000, and a J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law in 2006. At Maine Law, Sean received the ABA/BNA Award for Excellence in the Study of Intellectual Property Law.
Sean is admitted to practice in Maine, Massachusetts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
